Rally Day 2

I goofed--Last blog entry had day 2, but this is really Day 2. We came in a day early

We boarded the buses at 8 in the morning. Mom took her scooter and the bus driver Adam just lifts in right into and out of the bay. She is in the first seat and Carl and I are right behind her. All the others have to draw cards each day to decide where they sit. There are 4 buses. We are on bus 1.

We first went to the IMAX and saw a great movie on the battle at the Alamo. After that we walked over to the Alamo and had a tour guide for awhile and then on our own.

This picture is shows us going up to the Alamo. It is always a little chilly first thing in the morning. You can see how the back of our jackets look here. If someone has a black vest on, they are the staff.

Here I am with my jacket in front of a large cactus on the Alamo grounds.

And, Carl in his.

Then, we had a tour guide that came on the bus with us and narrated a tour of the city. After that we left off at the El Mercado, which is a two block Mexican Market. We had lunch on our own while shopping around. We are at a restaurant you wouldn't believe all the decorations. It had Christmas tree lights all over the place, plus and every other Mexican decoration you could think of.

This is our guide that took us around the rest of the day. We went to two Missions., which was one too many. The one pictured below was the Old Mission San Jose which is in better shape than the Mission Concepcion.

After that we went to the Institute of Texan Culture. It is a beautiful place highlighting all the different cultures and nationalities that make up Texas. However, it was a little boring, partly because we were tired. They included too much in this one day and too much getting on and off.

That evening after supper they had ballroom dancing instructions. Guess, did Carl go for it?

NO!

However, we did go over to watch and listen to the music and have a beer. Just as Carl got his beer, Ryan called to tell him about the bowling banquet and his trophy for the 300 game. He couldn't take his beer outside the building, so he quickly drank the old one and of course, had to go get another cold one. Then, we headed back to the motorhome. At the time Mom and I were watching though, I think I have the steps down now for the Fox Trot.
